Where Can You Rent a Wheelchair in London?
Anywhere in the capital, in practice. We cover all 32 boroughs with same-day delivery, seven days a week. Next-day delivery is available too.
Chairs go wherever you need them:
- Homes and flats across London
- Hotel receptions
- Hospital ward entrances, discharge points and car parks
- All five airports, including every Heathrow and Gatwick terminal
- Major stations such as Victoria, Paddington, King’s Cross and Waterloo
- Event venues and train stations
Book an airport delivery in advance and the driver waits for arrivals. No queuing, no uncertainty after a long flight.
What Does Wheelchair Rental Cost?
A standard lightweight or transit chair starts at £49 a week. An electric wheelchair starts at £145 a week.
There are no hidden fees. Delivery, collection and a demonstration are part of the price.
If you are chronically sick or disabled, you pay no VAT. GOV.UK sets out who qualifies for VAT relief. You declare it at checkout, or our team handles it with you on the phone.
Which Wheelchair Should You Hire?
Three manual types cover most trips. Each suits a different kind of day out.
Lightweight Folding
The aluminium frame weighs 14kg to 16kg. It folds flat in seconds. It fits a car boot, a black cab or a train carriage, so it suits sightseeing.
Transit
A carer or family member pushes it. Small wheels give better control in crowds. The armrests come off and the footrests swing away, which makes transfers easier.
Electric Powerhouse:
Full powered assistance, so nobody has to push. It is not suitable for the Tube, and hire starts at £145 a week.
Unsure which fits? Call 020 8191 3247 and describe the trip. We’ll tell you which chair to take.
What’s Included in Every Rental
Four things come with every hire, whatever chair you choose:
- Delivery and collection by our trained staff
- A full demonstration of the chair when it arrives
- Equipment sanitised and inspected before every hire
- Support by phone and email for the whole rental period
The demonstration matters more than people expect. Mobility hire should not arrive as a puzzle. If you have never folded a chair or fitted a footrest, the driver shows you first.
Can you Take a Hired Wheelchair on the Tube?
Yes, if it’s a manual chair. All our folding and transit models work on the Underground, buses, taxis and trains.
Electric wheelchairs are not suitable for the Tube. They are fine at street level anywhere in London.
Flying or cruising? Our manual chairs can go on domestic and international flights and on cruise ships. Tell us when you book, so we send a suitable model. For an electric chair, clear it with your airline first.
Who Hires Wheelchairs From Us?
Visitors hire for a few days of sightseeing. Families hire for a relative coming to stay.
Patients leaving the hospital often need one the same day. We deliver to the ward exit or straight to the home address.
People also hire for concerts, exhibitions and trade shows at the big London venues. Cruise passengers stopping in London book deliveries timed around the ship.
Should you Hire or Buy?
Hire for weeks. Buy for months.
Six weeks of hire at £49 comes to £294. A manual wheelchair costs from £195 to buy from us outright. So for a long recovery, buying usually works out cheaper.
Hiring still wins for a holiday, a visit or a recovery with no clear end date. The chair is cleaned, delivered and collected, and there is nothing to store afterwards.
