What our customers say about us …

How to Choose the Step Lift

Picking the right step lift really comes down to three simple questions.

How high does it need to go?

Measure from the ground to the top step. One or two steps at the front door usually call for a 1-metre lift. A raised porch or split-level hallway tends to sit in the 1.5–2 metre range. A 3-metre model handles taller rises like an elevated ground floor or a raised patio.

Inside or outside the house?

Adapt A Home step lifts can be fitted either way. Outdoor models are weatherproofed for British rain, frost and heat. Indoor installs are designed to sit neatly against existing décor with a low-profile and unobtrusive finish.

Home use or public use?

Domestic lifts are built for a single household. Commercial models used in hotels, clinics, shops and public buildings come with the extra safety features needed in shared spaces.

Still unsure? Book a free home survey with Adapt A Home and one of the team will measure up and confirm the right fit.

Types Step Lift available at Adapt A Home

Domestic step lifts

Compact platforms for front doors, back gardens and internal level changes. The simplest way to make a home fully accessible, without major building work or disruption

Commercial step lifts

Are specified for hotels, guesthouses, clinics, retail and public venues working toward accessible premises. They feature a heavier-duty build and include enhanced safety features.

Outdoor step lifts:

Weather-resistant models for external use.

Popular at front entrances, raised decking and split-level driveways.

Every unit runs on mains power with a battery backup, so a power cut won’t leave anyone mid-platform. Unlike other providers, our steplifts do not require an additional pneumatic pump system fitted to your home, which can be very noisy when in operation.

Our electrically driven steplifts are smooth and quiet and do not require additional building works. Entry configurations can be set up as through-entry, adjacent-entry, bridging or pit-mounted, depending on the space.
