Who Needs Care At Home Rental Equipment
Hospital Discharge & Recovery
Support that helps your loved one come home safely and comfortably. When someone is ready to leave hospital after surgery, a fall, or an acute illness, the real challenge often starts at home. Spaces that once worked can suddenly feel difficult and unsafe.
With the right equipment in place, you can turn your home into a space that supports recovery. A profiling bed, hoist, and stand aid make moving, resting, and daily care safer and more manageable. That means less worry about risks and more confidence that your loved one is supported every step of the way.
Care at home equipment makes this possible:
- Hospital Bed: Helps your loved one rest in the right position, reduces pressure sore risk, and makes transfers easier and safer for you.
- Mobile Hoist: Removes the strain of lifting, protects your back and helps your loved one feel secure and supported during every move.
- Stand Aid: Supports safer standing and movement, builds confidence, and helps your loved one stay more independent day to day.
- Pressure Care Mattress: Reduces the risk of bedsores, improves comfort, and helps your loved one rest and recover more effectively.

Mobility equipment rental FAQs
How do I set up a full care-at-home package quickly after a hospital discharge?
Adapt A Home offers three complete care-at-home rental packages, Essentials from £8.33 per day, Essential Plus from £16.11 per day and Gold Palliative from £17.77 per day, each a coordinated system of hospital-grade equipment delivered, assembled and set up by trained engineers in around 30 minutes. Call 020 8191 3247 or fill in the enquiry form and the team will confirm availability and arrange delivery to suit your discharge date. Prices shown are correct at the time of writing.
Which care package is right for our situation?
The Essentials package suits post-discharge recovery and short-term mobility needs (typically 4–8 weeks), the Essential Plus package adds a mobile hoist for stroke or post-surgery recovery where carer safety is key (6–12 weeks) and the Gold Palliative package – is built around comfort and dignity for end-of-life care. Individual items, such as a mobile hoist or profiling bed, can also be hired or bought alongside a package.
Is the Gold Palliative package suitable for end-of-life care at home?
Yes, the Gold Palliative package is designed specifically for end-of-life and complex care at home, combining an alternating air mattress for pressure injury prevention, a high/low profiling bed for pain management positioning, a riser recliner for dignified seated time, a mobile hoist for gentle transfers and a wheeled shower commode for safe hygiene routines. It uses the same equipment trusted by hospices and specialist palliative care nurses.
Can I hire individual pieces of care equipment rather than a full package?
Yes, individual items such as a mobile hoist, profiling bed with pressure care mattress, or mobility aids can be hired or purchased separately alongside or instead of a package. Contact the team on 020 8191 3247 or via the enquiry form to discuss individual item availability and pricing for your specific needs.
Is the care-at-home equipment the same quality as a care home or hospice?
Yes, Adapt A Home is a trusted NHS CES (Community Equipment Services) supplier and the rental packages use the same hospital-grade profiling beds, mobile hoists, pressure care mattresses and mobility aids used in care homes and hospices across the UK. The equipment is professionally serviced and checked before every delivery.
How quickly can care-at-home equipment be delivered and set up?
Adapt A Home’s trained engineers deliver, assemble and set up all equipment in around 30 minutes, show you how to operate everything safely and confirm it’s correctly configured before leaving. Delivery is arranged for a mutually convenient time between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday and confirmed after your order is placed. For urgent hospital discharge situations, contact the team on 020 8191 3247 as early as possible to discuss priority delivery availability.
Can care-at-home rental equipment be arranged for someone living outside London?
Yes, while Adapt A Home’s service centre is based near Heathrow with strong London coverage, care equipment rental packages can be arranged across the wider UK for hospital discharge, palliative care and recovery needs. Contact the team on 020 8191 3247 to confirm delivery coverage and timing for your specific location.
Can I extend my care equipment rental if recovery takes longer than expected?
Yes, simply call or email the team before your rental period ends and they will confirm any additional costs in writing. Rental periods are fully flexible, so if recovery takes longer than the initial 4–8 weeks for the Essentials package or 6–12 weeks for Essential Plus, the hire can be extended without penalty.
What happens if the equipment breaks down or stops working during my rental?
Adapt A Home has engineers in and around London every working day who will attend to repair or replace faulty equipment on-site as quickly as possible. All equipment is serviced and checked before delivery, but if a problem does arise the team provides 24-hour support for care professionals and families, contact 020 8191 3247.
