Fitted Ceiling Hoists
A ceiling Hoist is a fitted overhead patient hoist system, the ceiling track refers to the tracking rail that the actual hoist unit moves along. Our fitted hoists provide a greater lifting height than a mobile hoist option. They require very little effort to move even with someone in the hoist. Our range also includes Bariatric hoists which have greater lifting load capacity than standard.

Jacinta7 September 2026Very efficient service. More expensive than other mobility hire but worth it for the home delivery/collection plus lesson on how to use it too. The mobility scooter itself was ideal for my grandma to use whilst we were on holiday. Very simple to use given she’d never used one before, plus the fold up element made it particularly handy.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.Posted on Google![]()

FAQs
How is a ceiling track hoist installed?
A ceiling track hoist can be mounted directly into the ceiling, fixed to walls using special brackets, or supported on floor-to-ceiling posts. Free-standing gantry systems are also available, so the hoist can be fitted to suit the room’s structure and the user’s needs.
What is the difference between a ceiling track hoist and a gantry hoist?
A ceiling track hoist is fixed to the ceiling or walls and provides the smoothest, most friction-free transfer experience with the highest lifting capacity, ideal for permanent home or care installations. A gantry hoist is a freestanding overhead system that requires no fixing to walls or ceiling, making it portable and relocatable, with the UltraTwin Bariatric Gantry supporting up to 500kg for the heaviest users.
Can a ceiling track hoist be installed without drilling into the ceiling?
Yes. Where fixing into the ceiling isn’t possible, options such as floor-to-ceiling support posts and free-standing gantry systems need no fixing to the walls or ceiling. These can be relocated and easily removed, making them ideal for rented homes or temporary needs.
Can one ceiling track hoist handle all daily transfers — bed, toilet, bath and chair?
Yes, ceiling track hoists like the Liko 200 handle the full range of daily transfers including bed to wheelchair, chair, floor and toilet, with quick-change accessories allowing different sling configurations for different tasks without removing the hoist. Some models also support gait training, standing and balance rehabilitation, making them suitable for both ongoing care and recovery.
Can a ceiling hoist support gait training and rehabilitation as well as transfers?
Yes, the Liko 200 ceiling track hoist supports gait training, standing and balance rehabilitation as well as standard transfers, making it suitable for users in recovery from stroke, surgery or neurological conditions who need both daily care support and active rehabilitation assistance. Quick-change accessories allow the same hoist to switch between transfer and rehabilitation configurations.
Do you offer a bariatric ceiling and gantry hoists?
Yes. Alongside standard models, bariatric options include the Liko UltraTwin gantry, which lifts up to 500kg with no fixing to walls or ceiling, plus the Molift Mover 300 (300kg safe working load) and Molift Mover 205 (205kg). These give heavier or plus-size users safe, stable transfers.
Can a ceiling track hoist be operated by a single carer?
Yes. Ceiling track hoists are designed for single-person operation and users can often operate the system independently with minimal assistance. The overhead track provides a smooth, friction-free transfer that reduces strain and the risk of injury for the carer.
Do ceiling track hoists in care homes need LOLER inspections?
Yes, ceiling track hoists used in care settings are subject to LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998), which requires regular inspections by a competent person to ensure safe operation. Adapt A Home can advise on LOLER compliance and ongoing servicing for ceiling hoists in both domestic and care home environments, contact the team on 020 8191 3247.
How do I know which ceiling hoist model is right for my home or care setting?
The right model depends on the user’s weight, the transfer types needed, whether the installation is permanent or temporary and whether the environment is domestic or clinical. Adapt A Home’s team offers expert advice Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm and can recommend the right hoist configuration for your specific room, user weight and care needs, contact us on 020 8191 3247.
Do ceiling track hoists qualify for VAT relief and can I pay monthly?
Yes. Ceiling track hoists bought for someone with a disability or long-term health condition can qualify for VAT relief, removed at checkout for eligible customers, with charities qualifying via a charity number. The cost can also be spread over up to 12 months through PayItMonthly, subject to eligibility.
