Wheelchair Step Lifts
A single step or raised threshold should not stop you from moving freely around your home. A step lift gives you a safe, stable platform to move between levels smoothly and comfortably while you stay seated in your wheelchair, electric wheelchair, or mobility scooter. No transfers needed.
Adapt A Home step lifts are fully customisable and work just as well outdoors as they do inside your home. With vertical travel options from 1 metre to 3 metres, they are built to tackle everyday barriers, doorsteps, raised porches, split-level entrances, and garden terraces so you can move around freely in your wheelchair, powerchair, or mobility scooter.

What our customers say about us …
How to Choose the Step Lift
How high does it need to go?
Measure from the ground to the top step. One or two steps at the front door usually call for a 1-metre lift. A raised porch or split-level hallway tends to sit in the 1.5–2 metre range. A 3-metre model handles taller rises like an elevated ground floor or a raised patio.
Inside or outside the house?
Adapt A Home step lifts can be fitted either way. Outdoor models are weatherproofed for British rain, frost, and heat. Indoor installs are designed to sit neatly against existing décor with a low-profile and unobtrusive finish.
Home use or public use?
Domestic lifts are built for a single household. Commercial models used in hotels, clinics, shops and public buildings come with the extra safety features needed in shared spaces.
Step Lift Types Available at Adapt A Home
Domestic step lifts
Compact platforms for front doors, back gardens and internal level changes. The simplest way to make a home fully accessible, without major building work or disruption
Commercial step lifts
Are specified for hotels, guesthouses, clinics, retail and public venues working toward accessible premises. They feature a heavier-duty build and include enhanced safety features.
Outdoor step lifts:
Weather-resistant models for external use. Popular at front entrances, raised decking and split-level driveways.
Every unit runs on mains power with a battery backup, so a power cut won’t leave anyone mid-platform. Unlike other providers, our steplifts do not require an additional pneumatic pump system fitted to your home, which can be very noisy when in operation. Our electrically driven steplifts are smooth and quiet and do not require additional building works.
Entry configurations can be set up as through-entry, adjacent-entry, bridging or pit-mounted, depending on the space.

Frequently Asked Questions
Step lift or stairlift, which is right for you?
A stairlift is best if you can safely transfer out of your wheelchair, sit on the seat, and move back again at the top or bottom of the stairs.
A step lift lets you stay seated in your wheelchair, powerchair, or mobility scooter the whole time no transfer needed.
If transferring feels difficult or unsafe, a step lift is likely the better option. If you can transfer confidently and do not need your wheelchair on the other level, a stairlift may work well for you.
What weight can an Adapt-A-Home step lift carry?
The Super Step Lift 3m is rated for users up to 280 kg, which covers a powerchair plus the user in most situations. For heavier users or larger powerchairs, speak to the Adapt A Home team before ordering so they can ensure the correct platform size and capacity are specified from the start.
Are Adapt A Home step lifts safety-certified?
Yes. Every step lift supplied by Adapt A Home is installed by LOLER-compliant engineers, meeting UK safety regulations for lifting equipment. Ongoing servicing packages are also available to keep the lift certified and running smoothly for the long term.
What finance options are available?
Adapt A Home offers PayItMonthly finance (subject to status) on eligible orders, alongside standard credit and debit card payments, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay at checkout or over the phone.
Eligibility and terms depend on the finance provider’s own affordability checks.
