Equinox Nomad Mobility Scooter
The Equinox Nomad is a Class 2 pavement mobility scooter designed for everyday outdoor use. It sits between the compact travel models and the heavy-duty all-terrain Grande giving you a sturdy, reliable scooter for regular local journeys without the complexity of a large outdoor machine.
Equinox Nomad Pavement Scooter for Daily Life
The Equinox Nomad is designed for the kind of daily life most people lead, not off-road adventures and not just a short trip down the hallway. It is the scooter you use to get to the shops, go to your GP, meet friends for lunch, pick something up from the post office and generally stay active in your local area independently.
UK pavements are not always smooth or even. They have cambers, dropped kerbs, uneven joins and occasional rough patches, making it an obstacle course for a poorly designed scooter . The Nomad handles all of this comfortably. It is built with sufficient ground clearance and robust tyres to handle real pavement conditions rather than just ideal ones. The result is a scooter you can trust to get you where you are going without drama.
Equinox Nomad Handles All Terrain
In everyday use across UK towns and villages, the Equinox Nomad performs exactly as you would hope. Dropped kerbs the shallow ramp cut into the pavement at road crossings, are no issue on cambered pavements where the surface slopes gently to the side the Nomad tracks steadily without pulling or drifting.
A slightly rough car park surface, a gravelled path into a garden centre, a firm grass verge – the Nomad handles it comfortably. It is not designed for steep slopes or rough off-road ground, but for the surfaces you typically encounter on a day in a UK town or village, It is a confident and capable performer.

What Is a Class 2 Mobility Scooter?
A Class 2 mobility scooter is designed for use on pavement. In the UK, Class 2 scooters have a maximum speed of 4mph and are approved for use on pavements and in pedestrianised areas. They are not permitted on the road except to cross it.
The practical benefit of Class 2 classification is simplicity. You do not need to register a Class 2 scooter with the DVLA. You do not need a driving licence or road insurance to use it. You simply use it on the pavement as a pedestrian equivalent. The Equinox Nomad’s Class 2 status means it is straightforward to use for everyday local journeys, with no administrative requirements beyond the purchase itself.
How Far Will the Equinox Nomad Travel Between Charges?*
The Equinox Nomad’s battery is sized for daily local use and ships with a 38Ah battery with up to 28 miles range (38km) – typically enough for the kind of journeys most people make in a day without needing to stop and recharge. A 58Ah battery option is available that gives around 50km range. Note: The exact range you get depends on your weight, weather, driving style, the surface you are travelling on and the speed setting. Flat smooth pavements at a moderate pace will give you the best range. Hills or consistent high-speed use will reduce it.
Call our team on 020 8191 3247 for the confirmed range specification and for honest advice on whether it matches your typical daily mileage.

Who Is the Equinox Nomad Best Suited For?
The Equinox Nomad is best suited to older adults and people with reduced mobility/walking ability who need daily local mobility support. If you can walk short distances but struggle over 10 to 15 minutes on foot, a pavement scooter like the Nomad gives you the option to do everything you want to do locally without exhausting yourself. It is also a good option for those who have recently undergone surgery and are in a recovery period that limits how far they can walk comfortably.
It is not the right choice if you need to travel on roads (you would need a Class 3 scooter for that), or if your main need is to navigate rough outdoor terrain like fields or steep gravel paths (the Equinox Grande would be better suited). But for everyday UK town and village life shops, parks, local visits the Nomad hits the mark cleanly.
Equinox Nomad vs Equinox Grande: Choosing Between Pavement and All-Terrain
The Nomad and the Grande are both outdoor scooters, but they serve different needs. The Nomad is a Class 2 pavement scooter compact, easy to manoeuvre and designed for daily local journeys on pavements and in town centres. It is the practical, no-fuss choice for everyday life.
The Equinox Grande is a much larger, heavier-duty machine built for genuine multi-terrain use on grass, gravel, slopes and rougher uneven ground. It gives you outdoor freedom beyond pavements, but it is larger and better suited to day trips and outdoor exploration than to daily local errands. If your life is centred around your local area and you want a dependable everyday companion, the Nomad is the right choice. If you want to explore further afield across varied terrain, look at the Equinox Grande.

FAQS
Can the Equinox Nomad be used on roads?
The Equinox Nomad is a Class 2 mobility scooter, which means it is approved for pavement use only and has a maximum speed of 4mph. It can cross roads at designated crossing points, but is not permitted to travel on roads. If you need a scooter that can be used on both pavements and roads, you need a Class 3 model. Our team can advise you on which option is right for your situation. Call 020 8191 3247.
How does the Nomad handle kerbs and uneven pavements?
The Equinox Nomad is designed for real UK pavement conditions. Its ground clearance and tyre size allow it to handle standard dropped kerbs smoothly; you do not need to approach them at a precise angle or come to a full stop first. On uneven pavement surfaces, cambers and the occasional rough patch, the scooter tracks steadily without pulling to one side. It handles the everyday pavement conditions you encounter in most UK towns and villages without difficulty.
What is the maximum user weight for the Equinox Nomad?
For the exact confirmed weight capacity of the Equinox Nomad in kilograms and stones, please call our team on 020 8191 3247. We will give you the precise specification rather than an estimate. Checking the weight capacity is an important step before purchasing any mobility scooter to ensure it is safe and suitable for your use.
Does the Equinox Nomad need to be registered or insured?
Class 2 mobility scooters do not need to be registered with the DVLA, and there is no legal requirement for insurance. You can purchase the Equinox Nomad and use it on pavements straight away, without any registration.
While insurance is not required, some users choose to take out optional mobility scooter insurance for peace of mind. Our team can point you in the right direction if you want to explore that.
How does the Nomad compare to the Equinox Grande?
The Nomad is a compact, everyday pavement scooter designed for daily local use, shops, GP visits, parks. The Grande is a larger, heavy-duty all-terrain scooter designed for grass, gravel, slopes and extended outdoor use. The Nomad is easier to manoeuvre in town and lighter to manage day to day. The Grande offers off-pavement capability that the Nomad does not. If your main use is local daily errands, choose the Nomad. If you want outdoor exploration across varied terrain, the Equinox Grande is a good choice.

i bought this just over 2 weeks ago and now that i have used it for a while i can leave my thoughts. I was looking for a slightly bigger, mid sized scooter with suspension and a supportive & adjustable seat. The Nomad looked to have a bit more power than most and a much better seat than the alternatives – after using it every day I am happy that I went with it. The seat is really comfortable and has a decent headrest, back adjustment and flip up arms which are a godsend for me. It drives very well even on dodgy pavements – with enough power to get up my front ramp, easily and the power hasnt yet gone below half way, even though i use it a lot. Overall I am very happy with my choice and i would like to thank the driver who helped me set it up and showed me how to charge it before he left. A+
