Residential Lifts and Step Lifts

Residential elevators and through-floor and step lifts provide smooth and quiet through-floor travel and are an impressive addition to any home.

They are ideal for people who are using wheelchairs or powerchairs and give back freedom and independence to move around the house at leisure, in the majority of cases, without needing help or assistance. If you have steps or uneven surfaces outside your home, then you may require a step lift, which is a small platform that can take you from the ground to the level of the top step, allowing you to avoid the steps completely.

Designed to be easily installed in a wide range of homes, our Residential Elevator is available in a range of sizes and with a vertical travel distance of up to 4.2 meters and our platform step lift can go as high as 3m. We can provide a free, no-obligation assessment for a platform or through a floor lift in your home or even outside if you have accessibility issues leading to your property. Contact us to arrange a no-obligation visit.

What are step lifts?

Step Lifts are designed for short travel and are, therefore quite compact lifts that provide wheelchair access over a few steps to a front entrance. A step lift, complete with moving steps if required, provides a secure gangway between the lift and your door. This way, the customer can ensure that they buy the most suitable step lift for the job. The lifts are available for commercial or domestic buildings either internally or externally, with the commercial models having increased safety features to make them suitable for use in public spaces.

Benefits of installing a home lift

Residential lifts have become more of a necessity in modern times than a luxury. This is especially the case when you have limited mobility, and you’re looking for an easy way to move around the house without much assistance. A home lift can significantly impact your life and offers a variety of benefits. They are practical and provide unlimited access to your home. However, the benefits are not limited to helping you easily get around your home.

1. Increases property value

Whether you’re considering selling your home now or in the near future, a home lift can improve the home’s value and allow you to fetch more. Even though it might be a necessity for you, for other homeowners, it can be a much sought-after luxury. A home lift will make the home more comfortable, significantly impact the selling price, and improve interest in the property.

2. Better accessibility

There are various reasons why you might want a lift in your home. One of the most common reasons is to improve accessibility and mobility, especially in buildings with more than one floor. With a home lift, the user can easily move from floor to floor without dealing with the challenge that is posed by stairs. Stairlifts can also be installed for narrow stairs and tight corners. With the help of a lift, you can be more independent while exploring the full range around the home without putting yourself through the pain of dealing with staircases.

3. It is safe

A home lift is a great way for less mobile homeowners to move around. It is safe and more comfortable to use instead of the stairs. With reduced mobility, imminent risks are associated, and a lift is a perfect way to avoid such risks without limiting your movement. If security is a concern in the house, it is possible to make the lift accessible only to certain people, ensuring you maintain security within the property.

4. It is practical

If you’re considering installing a home lift for mobility reasons, it is the most practical decision you can make. It will come in handy in reducing your association with the stairs, even when you have to carry bulky items to another floor. A home lift is both convenient and fast and makes the work at hand a lot easier, whether it is accessibility or moving heavy items around.

VAT Relief for the Disabled

What is VAT relief?

We have compiled this small guide to help you understand who is and who isn’t eligible to claim VAT relief on disability aids available to buy on this website. VAT relief allows chronically ill or disabled people to buy eligible items at 0% tax rather than the current standard rate of  VAT – saving them a significant amount of money.

Who is eligible for VAT relief?

To be eligible for VAT relief the government says that you have to fit the following criteria:

  • Charities – simply provide us with your charity number.
  • A person is ‘chronically sick or disabled’ if they are a person:
    • With a physical or mental impairment which has a long-term and substantial adverse effect upon their ability to carry out everyday activities; with a condition that the medical profession treats as a chronic sickness, such as diabetes; or who is terminally ill.
  • Important to note: It does NOT include a frail elderly person who is otherwise able-bodied or any person who is only temporarily disabled or incapacitated, such as with a broken limb.

What proof do we need to provide?

The government requires a simple declaration to be made as to the nature of your disability at the time of order in order to waive VAT on an eligible purchase. No proof of your disability need be shown to any party at any time. It is easy to claim VAT relief, all we need to know is the full name, full address and what their chronic sickness or disability is. We do not need a doctor’s letter or any reference numbers as long as we have the requested details.

The above information can be provided to us during the checkout. If you order online, by phone or by post we will send you a form and a free return envelope asking you for the above information and a signature.

If you see a small purple banner or text link with the words, “VAT relief available” or a price shown with “with VAT relief” after it, then VAT relief can be claimed on that particular item.

Things to remember

  • We do NOT decide if an item is or isn’t exempt and we don’t make any more or less money if we charge you VAT or we don’t charge you VAT
  • The details you provide are private and strictly confidential. They can only be viewed on our secure private company network and will be made securely available to the UK Government HMRC should they request any clarification on your purchase.
  • If you do not complete the VAT relief form, or you are not eligible for VAT relief, we are obliged to charge you the full prevailing VAT on the whole of your order
  • Not all products are eligible for VAT relief, so we are obliged to charge VAT at the prevailing rate for those products that are not VAT exempt, even after you complete this form
